Review of new Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Sometimes you just don't feel like wearing lipstick or lip gloss. I love the little lip butters in a jar from The Body Shop, but I was looking for something in between with a stronger hint of color. I picked up Revlon's New Lip Butter for $6 at my local Smith's. I color matched the lip butter to one of my favorite lipsticks I had in my purse and settled on "Sugar Frosting".

I like that this lip butter is in a lipstick case. Most products like this are in a pot or tin, and you have to use your fingers. The color is sheer, but enough to give some color to your lips. It is more moisturizing than lipstick, but less than a traditional butter. At $6, this is a great find and I will probably go back for more.

LUSH Lip Scrub: lip smacking

Here in the desert your lips can get unbelievably dry.  Tired of watching my child peel dry skin off his lips, I went looking for a lip scrub. I only found a couple, all in the $18-$20 range and not in the most appealing flavors for a child. The light bulb went off and I headed to LUSH in the Shoppes at Mandalay Place.

LUSH Cosmetics makes handmade products from fresh ingredients, without testing on animals. Perfect for kids. The Lip Scrub comes in bubblegum, mint and chocolate. Its made of castor sugar and jojoba oil for moisturizing. You can apply and wipe off, or literally lick it away. It has the consistency of slightly wet sugar, so use at the sink. Afterwards, apply your favorite lip product. $8.95 at LUSHUSA.com.

Products have the date and the maker of the product on the containers!

Jouer Cosmetics, the "little black dress" of makeup lines

You won't find any bright crazy colors in this makeup line, just soft, natural colors. Jouer Cosmetics founder, Christina Zilber, refers to her line as the "little black dress" of makeup with colors suited for any occasion. She wanted her clients to be able to create a look themselves, with wearable colors and without a makeup artist.

An interesting extra about Jouer - all of the pieces fit together. Eye shadows, blush, lip glosses and more have slots on the side and simply slide onto one another. You won't find yourself looking through a makeup bag to find your lipstick and blush - they'll be connected. You buy Jouer one by one or by collection, like the Everyday Must Haves Collection (below).

You can visit the Jouer Collection at Skins 6|2 in the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Endless Pearl

I have been looking for  a replacement of my MAC Vanilla eye shadow when I came upon this one at the grocery store. I had a $2 off coupon, so this ended up costing about four dollars. It is supposed to last 24 hours, but didn't wear it that long to find out. It has the consistency of a powder you accidentally got wet. It works well with or without eye primer and is very close to MAC vanilla. This was a great find. Unfortunately, they will probably discontinue the color.

Sneak Peek: Rain introduces new Lip Lacquers

The new "Color Storm" Lip Lacquers come in six bold colors. What exactly is a lip lacquer you ask? Lip lacquer is to lip gloss what nail lacquer is to nail polish. Lacquers are heavier, with more pigment and last longer - all good things for a lip or nail product.

Rain Color Storm Lacquers contain jojoba and vitamin E oils to keep your lips hydrated. They have not been released yet, but I expect them to retail around $20. Get them at Aria or at www.raincosmetics.com on February 10th.
