Never Buy Purple Shampoo Again!

No purple shampoo? No problem. Keeping blonde hair brass and yellow-free is a tireless effort. The easiest way to keep it in shape is by using a toning shampoo or conditioner. There are tons of products on the market these days, but a lot of people complain that toning shampoos can dry out hair and are expensive to boot. A new product from OGX allows you to tone your hair using your own shampoo and conditioner! OGX Blonde Enhance + Purple Toning Drops (I may get a commission from this link) are concentrated purple drops that you mix into the product to create a custom toning product for hair. Just dispense your shampoo or conditioner into your hand, add 3 to 5 drops and mix! Use it just with shampoo, just conditioner or both! You can easily customize the level of toning. I found the less of drops you use, the more “blue” your mix will be. That works great for me because I prefer a blue shampoo to purple. If you don’t know what your color is, read my article on finding your undertones. ...

It's so Bronzy!

If you haven't jumped on the bronzer bandwagon yet, here is an easy, inexpensive way. Most of us think bronzer is for adding all over color to combat paleface. That is not completely true makeup artists have been using it to narrow noses and create cheek bones for eons (okay maybe not eons!).  Actress Jenny Mc Carthy always has notable bronzed cheekbones.  If you are not sure if bronzing is for you - don't buy a spendy one. This NYC Sun 2 Sun has worked great for me. I found it at ULTA for about $4.   For definition, you should use a matte bronzer. For all over color use one with a shimmer. Yu-Be helps problem areas and gives you pedicure perfect feet

Summer is almost here. Time to get your feet in sandal shape. Exfoliation and moisturizer is the best way to get rid of dry skin and cracked heels. I was approached by Yu-Be, a tried and true Japanese line to try it out and offer a Travel Pak to my readers. Yu-Be is a glycerin based moisturizer with Vitamin E, B2 and camphor. It does not contain any artificial colors or fragrances and has been a favorite in Japan since 1957.  I tried the Skin Cream , Moisturizing Body Lotion, Foaming Skin Polish and the Heel and Elbow Moisturizing socks . Both the lotion and cream absorb quickly and are not greasy. However, the Camphor makes it smell like Carmex. Yu-Be reminds me of a lighter version of the old cure all, Bag Balm. That heavy petrolatum based ointment cured anything from diaper rash to eczema. But it took forever to absorb and was not pleasant.  Yu-Be is for dry skin, cracked heals and itchy skin and for people who just want a good moisturizer. There were many happy re...

Winky Lux Has Lip Glosses That Taste Like Applebee's Wings

National Chicken Wing Day and National Lipstick Day were both last week and Winky Lux has some leftovers. To celebrate days in the chicken wing and lipstick worlds, Applebee's partnered with Winky Lux on a collection of wing sauce-inspired lip glosses. The "Saucy Gloss" collection has four different shades, each based on an Applebee's wing sauce: Get Me Hot Buffalo: Coral with hot buffalo spice flavor. Sweet Chile Kiss: Deep red with golden chile. Be My Honey Pepper: Honey-spiced gloss with shimmering flecks with hints of BBQ, honey and pepper.  Honey BBQ-T: Maroon with sweet Asian wing sauce flavors.  Each gloss is $18 or you can get the whole set for $65.  Applebee's made a video with four models wearing the lip glosses to first dates at Applebee's encouraging singles to get out there after Covid. "Applebee’s is known for first dates and wings – which are one of our most popular menu items,” said Applebee’s Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky. “So...

The most expensive nail polish you won't regret buying

For those of us who don't get regular manicures, great nail polish is a must. I wandered upon my new favorite in Nordstrom while browsing Deborah Lippmann's products. "Happy Birthday" is the coolest polish I have ever seen. It is made up of red, yellow, blue, orange, green purple, silver and gold mini confetti in a clear base. It almost looks like someone threw a bunch of confetti and it landed on your nails, hence the name "Happy Birthday" .     I just had to have it. Even at $18. Now, you have to consider that this is a premium brand that contains no toluene, formaldehyde or DBP. It is sold out   online and Nordstrom says they can barely keep it in stock. The one negative - the sales lady told me it takes a while to get it off.  Deborah Lippmann is a manicurist that started mixing up polishes for her celebrity clients like Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cher.  She also has a line of hand and foot treatments, her "Rich Girl" hand and ...
