Blood, Sweat and Tears, new lip products from Rain

I got a little New Year's gift in my Mailbox! The new Blood, Sweat and Tears lip stain and gloss collection from Rain Cosmetics! This collections includes a red lip stain (Blood), a sparkly lip gloss (sweat) and a high shine lip gloss (tears). You can wear them all together, separately or pick and choose. I love lip stains, they make it much easier to layer color. To use, apply Blood lip stain first, allowing it to dry between coats. This lip stain seems to have some moisture in it, but you could use the Rain Lip Therapy first. After the lip stain is dry, use fingers or a brush to apply Sweat sparkly lip gloss or Tears, high shine lip gloss - or both. I always use fingers or a brush to apply lip glosses over color so you don't pollute the container. Blood is a very complimentary red shade that would look good on everyone. It doesn't dry your lips and (as with all Rain lip glosses) the glosses are not sticky. I hope to see other lip stain colors in the future! I love...

Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta

I was curious about the waxing services by Benefit at ULTA so I went in to check out the Brow Bar. The bar is actually separate from the ULTA Salon, performed by the standards of Benefit Cosmetics. A brow wax is $20 and a brow tweeze is $22. They also take care of other facial waxing as well as faux eyelash applications. If you buy their lashes ($15), application is $5, otherwise you'll pay $10.

Love & Toast is eco-friendly, soothing beauty

At the Cosmoprof Las Vegas show this year, I stopped by the Love & Toast booth. It had to be the cutest one there! Love & Toast is a cosmetics company out of Colorado. The creator, Margot Elena, is the founder of other great brands like Oprah's favorite, Lollia. Love & Toast is a line of great smelling, eco-friendly bath and body products. The products contain no parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, mineral oil, propylene glycol, retinol, sulfates, or synthetic color. They are not tested on animals and are free of animal products. They even pass the seal of approval of Whole Foods and are carried in certain locations. As the temperatures get colder and the sir gets drier, it has taken a toll on my hands. My favorite Love & Toast product, Sugar Grapefruit Handcreme has helped  a lot. It smells of of fresh, sweet grapefruit and the Shea butter, Macadamia nut, Olive, Avocado & Sunflower oils keeps your hands moisturized. I also love the aluminum tube it comes i...

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is the best

I have used a lot of eyeshadow primers but this one beats them all hands down. They also recently changed the packaging from a wand to tube, which makes application easier and more sanitary. You can apply this primer and then wait for it to dry, or just put your shadow right over it. It makes your shadow last all day and concentrates the pigments. It is also great with creme shadow. It gave my Make Up For Ever's Aqua Cream shadow a more uniform, smoother look. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer is available in four colors, original (nude), Sin (Shimmering Champagne),  Greed (Gold) and Eden (Matte Tawny). Eden is great if you have "stained" eyelids, it will cover and prime at the same time. Available at Sephora and UrbanDecay.com, $19.

ColorOn Pro Instant Eyeshadow

I got the opportunity to try these cool instant eyeshadow appliqués, and give you the lowdown. The sets ColorOn Pro gave me were a smoky eye set and "Dreams", bold colors with eyeliners. The best thing about these appliqués is that they pack A LOT of color. The dreams colors didn't especially work for me, but I loved the smoky eyes. I have found it difficult to layer with regular eyeshadow to get a deep smoky eye. I end up with grey everywhere and no definition. Because I have a deep set eye, I applied a highlighter shadow  to my brow before adding the appliqué. I would recommend watching the instructional video on the company website instead of just using the written instructions. If you miss a spot, you can blend it out, or just apply more with a corner of the appliqué. The color is so concentrated, you can use them 2-3 times per eye. You MUST apply the setting powder all over the design, or it will feel wet and sticky and could run. I would buy these again - they w...

Winky Lux Has Lip Glosses That Taste Like Applebee's Wings

National Chicken Wing Day and National Lipstick Day were both last week and Winky Lux has some leftovers. To celebrate days in the chicken wing and lipstick worlds, Applebee's partnered with Winky Lux on a collection of wing sauce-inspired lip glosses. The "Saucy Gloss" collection has four different shades, each based on an Applebee's wing sauce: Get Me Hot Buffalo: Coral with hot buffalo spice flavor. Sweet Chile Kiss: Deep red with golden chile. Be My Honey Pepper: Honey-spiced gloss with shimmering flecks with hints of BBQ, honey and pepper.  Honey BBQ-T: Maroon with sweet Asian wing sauce flavors.  Each gloss is $18 or you can get the whole set for $65.  Applebee's made a video with four models wearing the lip glosses to first dates at Applebee's encouraging singles to get out there after Covid. "Applebee’s is known for first dates and wings – which are one of our most popular menu items,” said Applebee’s Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky. “So...

The most expensive nail polish you won't regret buying

For those of us who don't get regular manicures, great nail polish is a must. I wandered upon my new favorite in Nordstrom while browsing Deborah Lippmann's products. "Happy Birthday" is the coolest polish I have ever seen. It is made up of red, yellow, blue, orange, green purple, silver and gold mini confetti in a clear base. It almost looks like someone threw a bunch of confetti and it landed on your nails, hence the name "Happy Birthday" .     I just had to have it. Even at $18. Now, you have to consider that this is a premium brand that contains no toluene, formaldehyde or DBP. It is sold out   online and Nordstrom says they can barely keep it in stock. The one negative - the sales lady told me it takes a while to get it off.  Deborah Lippmann is a manicurist that started mixing up polishes for her celebrity clients like Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cher.  She also has a line of hand and foot treatments, her "Rich Girl" hand and ...
