No purple shampoo? No problem. Keeping blonde hair brass and yellow-free is a tireless effort. The easiest way to keep it in shape is by using a toning shampoo or conditioner. There are tons of products on the market these days, but a lot of people complain that toning shampoos can dry out hair and are expensive to boot. The pitfalls of buying makeup on Etsy

I still love Etsy and I will still buy from shops on the popular homemade website, but I am disappointed in one of their merchants. I bought a mineral powder foundation from Orglamix (and even reviewed it in my beauty column.) only to find they have disappeared. I went to their Etsy site, and for a few weeks it read, on vacation. They kept updating their Facebook and Twitter pages and I thought eventually they would return. Then one day, the Etsy site was gone. I did some research on the internet and found rumors that the company was simply buying someone else's product and putting their stickers/packaging on it. So not only was the product not made by them, it probably wasn't organic or even all natural. Oh, well you win some you lose some. If anyone actually knows what the name of the products are that they were passing off as their own, leave a comment! I liked it whatever it was!

The most expensive nail polish you won't regret buying

 For those of us who don't get regular manicures, great nail polish is a must. I wandered upon my new favorite in Nordstrom while browsing Deborah Lippmann's products. "Happy Birthday" is the coolest polish I have ever seen. It is made up of red, yellow, blue, orange, green purple, silver and gold mini confetti in a clear base. It almost looks like someone threw a bunch of confetti and it landed on your nails, hence the name "Happy Birthday" .     I just had to have it. Even at $18. Now, you have to consider that this is a premium brand that contains no toluene, formaldehyde or DBP. It is sold out   online and Nordstrom says they can barely keep it in stock. The one negative - the sales lady told me it takes a while to get it off.  Deborah Lippmann is a manicurist that started mixing up polishes for her celebrity clients like Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cher.  She also has a line of hand and foot treatments, her "Rich Girl" hand and ...

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream After seeing this product demonstrated on QVC, I thought I would give it a try. I have thin, fine hair and this leave-in treatment is supposed to make it appear thicker, with more body. It is pricey, $14 for a 1.8 ounce bottle, but you only need a pea-sized amount. I put a little more than that in my hair, being careful not too put it too close to my roots. It did work. My hair felt thicker without feeling like I had product build up. I thought it was great, until I went outside. The heat from the sun hits your hair and it emits a smell like you are at an outdoor fish market. Now, I had read reviews on makeupalley.com that complained about the smell, and I assumed it was too flowery or something. Good thing Sephora took it back. Living Proof, if you are listening, fix the smell and I will buy it again!
